Driven by a curiosity and passion for discovering new ideas and creating innovative projects, creative entrepreneur and emerging investor Joshua Scutts is leveraging his diverse professional background to disrupt the business industry, focusing on “working hard and smart” to achieve success. When automation is about more than saving time but creating scalable, efficient systems that allow people to focus on growth, Scutts brings his unique blend of technical expertise and leadership to drive personal and industry-wide growth.
A Diverse Beginning
Scutts began building a strong technical foundation at the age of 15 when he started learning programming languages and web development. However, at just 18 years old, Scutts reflected on how to streamline everything so that he wasn’t in an endless loop of repetitive takes. Pursuing how to better leverage automation for more than convenience—but for more freedom—Scutts focused on building systems that worked better for him instead of him working for them.
Scutts’ early interest in technology and automation has been incorporated into his career, which consisted mainly of sales, marketing, and management. However, it was during his time as a direct insurer that Scutts began to think about how he could disrupt the insurance industry.
His professional background in sales and marketing further helped Scutts hone his skills. He then became the principal at Shielded Insurance Brokers, an insurance brokerage that offers diverse policies for various clients and uses insurance technology to improve everything from workflows to client relationships.
Today, Scutts seamlessly blends technology, coding, and business management to create new solutions and disruptive ideas on how to reimagine slow-moving industries. Understanding that the days of paper and pen are long gone, his multifaceted career in sales, marketing, and management has aided him in quickly identifying staff and customer pain points and creating strategic solutions to help his business grow.
Automation = Business Freedom and Scalability
Scutts’s dedication to remaining current in technology and coding trends while mastering business management, people, and culture has allowed him to lead and build successful businesses. Approaching growing businesses with an emphasis that automation is more than a time-saver but a critical component for business freedom and scalability, he helps drive efficiency and effectiveness in slower-moving industries. Scutts encourages others to evaluate their processes and identify what they can automate, which is key to focusing on bigger opportunities for businesses to grow.
Rather than waiting for others to help him get things done, the creative entrepreneur disrupts industries by digging in and getting the work done or recreating how to do the work. With experience in multiple sectors, including insurance (e.g., Shielded Insurance & CoverMy), technology (e.g., Plaidium – AI and Automation Agency), and future investments, Scutts’s extensive experience as an entrepreneur and background have positioned him as a versatile and adaptable professional who excels in marketing, sales, people management.

Recognized for Success
Setting himself apart by continuing to expand his expertise in marketing, developing/coding, management, and sales, Scutts’s career includes notable highlights such as helping his mother retire, purchasing his dream car, and earning accolades like the Australian Young Gun of the Year in Insurance and Broker of the Year.
Joshua Scutts is further driven to success by his desire to give back, support other business owners, and mentor budding entrepreneurs. While balancing his professional life with his busy personal life, which includes his three young children, Scutts has been able to successfully lead a company nearing 100 employees in a portfolio that generates eight figures annually. Looking ahead, he hopes to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges, like people and culture, as businesses scale.
For CEOs, entrepreneurs, and investors ready to reflect on their own processes and embrace automation for growth, Scutts’s website and Instagram provide further insights and potential collaborations.
