According to an announcement, Brian Weinstein has been named both Co-CEO of 3 Arts Entertainment and Senior Advisor to the Office of the CEO at Lionsgate.

Weinstein will officially join the leadership team at 3 Arts as the Co-CEO, assisting in managing the company’s day-to-day operations and outspreading its capabilities into more cooperative new areas. In January of this year, Lionsgate increased its majority equity investment in 3 Arts Entertainment.

Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer will be working closely with Weinstein as part of his role as Senior Advisor to the Office of the CEO at Lionsgate. He will also be working with the rest of the studio’s management team and efforts to help spearhead growth initiatives for its various other businesses.

Feltheimer said, “Brian is an entrepreneurial executive with the background and skills to work with 3 Arts leadership and continue their company’s dynamic growth.” The CEO continued, “3 Arts is an integral part of our talent strategy and a driver of content creation. Their unique combination of talent management and production expertise puts them at the forefront of capitalizing on opportunities for the talent business. I also want to welcome Brian to the Lionsgate team in his capacity as Senior Advisor.”

The partners at 3 Arts stated, “As our industry continues to evolve, we are always looking to bring more creative opportunities to our clients to keep them a step ahead. Brian’s focus and accomplishments at Bad Robot and CAA make him a perfect fit to help guide us in continuing to grow the business in areas of proven strength.”

Speaking about accepting the new roles, Weinstein said, “The partners at 3 Arts have built a world-class management firm position to diversify and capitalize on our industry’s current disruption. At Lionsgate, I can’t wait to help the company continue to navigate the evolving media landscape and to contribute to its highly entrepreneurial culture, commitment to excellence, and spirit of innovation.”

Weinstein previously served as president and CEO of Bad Robot before joining the staff at Lionsgate. Bad Robot was formed by filmmaker J.J. Abrams, and during Weinstein’s tenure, he played a pivotal role in helping to lead the company’s expansion and diversification and spearheaded the launch and growth of a portfolio of new businesses including video games, docuseries, podcasting, animation, live theatrical, music, and consumer. He also led Bad Robot’s strategic partnership with Warner Bros.

Before joining Abrams at Bad Robot, Weinstein was previously the Head of Global Client Strategy at CAA, where he led the agency’s efforts to generate revenue, oversees business development in all areas, and maximizes value for the company’s most prolific and entrepreneurial clients. Going back further, Weinstein worked as a corporate associate at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom.

Prior to entering the workforce, Weinstein earned his BA from Yale University as well as a JD degree from Columbia Law School. He actively serves on the board of directors of Excel Sports Media, SoccerPost, and Angel City FC, where he was a partner and founding investor. Weinstein is also the co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of the nonprofit organization Opportunity Network.
